Creative Saskatchewan | Film & TV Development Grant | January 27 2021 | This grant augments other resources available to qualified Saskatchewan production companies as they undertake one of 4 different streams of film and tv development: Pre-Development Stream • assists with costs related to concept-to-outline writing and creation of pitching materials required to present to broadcasters and other financiers First Draft Stream • assists with costs related to continuing development (e.g. taking a script treatment to an outline or first draft) of projects that have secured development monies from a eligible source (e.g. broadcaster or distributor) Final Draft Stream • assists with costs related to continuing development (e.g. script polish, and pre-production activities) of projects that have secured development monies from an eligible source (e.g. broadcaster or distributor) Slate Development Stream • assists with costs related to development of two to five eligible film or television projects with the potential to leverage development financing from other funding agencies and the private sector | •Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria defined in the Creative Saskatchewan Investment Fund General Program Guidelines. •Applicants may be an individual or a corporation •Applicants must be the owner or co-owner of the project, control copyright, and receive a share of revenue from sales of the project. • Applicants must demonstrate a minimum 50% Saskatchewan ownership of the project. •Applicants must demonstrate they have the rights to develop, produce, and exploit the property for a two-year minimum plus a renewal from date of application. •Applicants must have experience as producers of commercial film or television, or related experience satisfactory to Creative Saskatchewan, and must demonstrate they possess the necessary expertise and resources to complete the proposed production and arrange for its marketing. •The production company cannot hold a broadcasting license issued by the CRTC or deal at non-arm’s length with a corporation that holds a license. •The applicant company must be incorporated in Saskatchewan or incorporated federally and registered in Saskatchewan. The head office or principal place of business must be located in Saskatchewan, and substantial ownership control must remain with Saskatchewan residents. •Applicants who have secured production funding from Creative Saskatchewan in support of a project that has received development funding must complete development activities and reporting prior to the start of principal photography |
Creative Saskatchewan | Market & Export Development Grant | February 10 2021 | This grant helps cover the cost of marketing your product or your business. | There are two streams available to eligible applicants: “Micro Marketing Stream” • This stream is intended to support smaller-scale marketing opportunities. • Applicants may apply for a maximum of $5,000. • Applicants are limited to one Micro Marketing Grant per fiscal. • Applications will be assessed every six weeks. • Unsuccessful applicants are eligible to reapply twice per fiscal. “Major Marketing Stream” • This stream is intended to support larger-scale marketing opportunities. • Applicants may apply for a maximum of $25,000 per applicant per fiscal year (whichever is the lesser); or a maximum of $50,000 per applicant per 24 months (whichever is the lesser). Any funds received through the “Micro Marketing Grant” are included in the calculation. • Application deadlines for this stream will be published on the Creative Saskatchewan website (www.creativesask.ca). • Unsuccessful applicants are eligible to reapply at the next program deadline. |
Creative Saskatchewan | Feature Film Production Grant | Rolling | The Feature Film Production Grant provides financial support to eligible applicants for feature film productions that have secured a relevant market trigger or distribution agreement of fair market value. There are two streams within this grant: Saskatchewan Stream and Service Production Stream. SASKATCHEWAN STREAM •Creative Saskatchewan offers support to eligible Saskatchewan production companies, equivalent to 30% of all eligible Saskatchewan expenditures. Refer to the Eligible Saskatchewan Screen-Based Expenditures document (www.creativesask.ca). •Applicants must be the owner or co-owner of the project and, at minimum, must control a share of copyright proportional to Creative Saskatchewan’s financial participation. SERVICE PRODUCTION STREAM •Creative Saskatchewan offers support to eligible production companies, equivalent to 25% of all eligible Saskatchewan expenditures. •There are no copyright ownership requirements for the Service Production Stream. | •Productions must be feature length (a minimum of 75 minutes). •Productions must demonstrate interest from other agencies or a relevant market trigger (i.e.distribution agreement of fair market value). •The production company cannot hold a broadcasting license issued by the CRTC or deal at non-arm’s length with a corporation that holds a license. •Applicants must receive a Producer credit on the final project. •Applicants must have experience as producers of feature films or related experience satisfactory to Creative Saskatchewan and must demonstrate they possess the necessary expertise and resources to complete the proposed production and arrange for its marketing. •Inter-provincial co-productions and co-ventures are eligible, but the applicant company must have a substantial ownership interest in the project. •At the time of submission, applicants must provide written evidence of a relevant market trigger or distribution agreement of fair market value and evidence of a minimum of 50% confirmed financing, unless the project budget is over $1 million, then evidence of a minimum of 70% confirmed financing is required. The Creative Saskatchewan ProductionGrant and federal tax credit calculations may be included as part of the confirmed financing. •Applications must be received prior to the completion of principal photography. •Commercial intent must be the primary purpose and focus of the project. |

Government of Yukon | Yukon Film Development Fund | Rolling | The purpose of this program is to encourage the growth and development of the Yukon Film industry through the provision of non-repayable financial contributions to assist with the costs of development of film projects in Yukon. Development is the work necessary to get a project ready to be put on film, and may include acquiring the property, writing script drafts, budgeting, packaging of talent, director and other creative personnel, and obtaining production financing. | • An individual who is a Yukon resident and who owns at least 51% of the project. • A Yukon corporation which owns at least 51% of the project and film production is a major, not peripheral activity of their business. • Recipients under this program are not eligible to apply for rebates of Yukon expenditures under the Yukon Film Location Incentive Program. |
