This initiative is designed to empower content creators to play a more proactive role in the marketing and distribution of their work. It provides producers and filmmakers with the skills and resources necessary to effectively connect with and engage their target audiences. Additionally, the project aims to build a network of local audience engagement specialists to help expand the reach of Canadian narrative and documentary features across the country.
The program is comprised of two main components as follows:
Capacity Building– Offering support and resources to creators, empowering them to take a more active role in the marketing and distribution of their creative content. Selected participants receive funding support and are matched with consultants to develop tailored marketing and distribution plans for their projects.
Community Engagement– Developed with key partners in the regions, this program targets journalists, film enthusiasts, and film lovers with deep community connections. Through a well-structured curriculum, the program equips participants with the knowledge and tools needed to organize screenings and actively engage with audiences in various regions and communities. The program’s long-term goal is to establish a nationwide network of Film Engagement Specialists who will regularly host screenings, introducing diverse content that resonates with local audiences.
Data Collection is a key aspect of both components of CISF Connect. Partners and Participants are required to collect and report data on all screenings and audience numbers, ensuring thorough tracking and assessment of each project’s reach and impact.
